FORT STOCKTON, Texas — The Palm Beach County 4-H Association's TechGarage Solar Car Club, has once again made history, capturing its second consecutive National Championship in the Classic Division of the Solar Car Challenge after completing every available mile (656.7 miles) during the 2026 Tour of Texas.

Additionally, two students were inducted into the Order of the Solar Cell, one of the highest individual recognitions in the Solar Car Challenge. The award recognizes students who consistently demonstrate exceptional leadership, technical excellence, professionalism, and service throughout the competition.

Palm Beach County 4-H is a program of the Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Department that provides youth ages 5 to 18 with hands-on learning opportunities that build leadership, citizenship, STEM knowledge, and critical life skills through clubs, camps, workshops, and community-based programs.

This achievement was especially significant because the club faced a major transition midway through the season when its operations relocated to Broward County. Together, Palm Beach County and Broward County Extension 4-H youth and staff worked closely together to achieve this major victory.

While TechGarage's accomplishment is an outstanding example, it is just one of many opportunities available through Palm Beach County 4-H. Local youth can participate in hands-on projects involving robotics, agriculture, environmental education, leadership, public speaking, community service, and more, all while developing valuable life skills and preparing for future success.

Families interested in getting involved with Palm Beach County 4-H are encouraged to contact the Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Department at (561) 233-1731 or FourH@pbc.gov. Through programs like TechGarage and many others, Palm Beach County 4-H continues to empower local youth to learn by doing and reach their full potential.

The TechGarage's success was featured on WVSN 7 on August 6.  Read the entire story!
