County Transfers CR 880 to Florida Department of Transportation Through Mutual Agreement

The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, agreed to transfer a roughly 18-mile stretch of County Road (C.R.) 880 (CR880) near Belle Glade to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) through a mutual agreement by both parties. The entities agreed the transfer is in the best interest of the public.

CR880 from State Road (S.R.) 880 / Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard E. / Avenue E to U.S. 441 / U.S. 98 / S.R. 80 / Southern Boulevard will be transferred in phases to FDOT for their jurisdiction, ownership, and maintenance. The transfers are timed upon several road projects, including the FDOT's roadway improvements along the western portion and the County's Engineering and Public Works Department (EPW)'s two bridge construction projects. Prior to these phased transfers, the County will continue previously planned and funded milling and resurfacing.
