Created by Harries Héder Collaborative, in collaboration with WGI’s Landscape Architecture Team. Windows on the Floating World is an art piece, this is an art piece not about an object, but instead about the experience of place. This garden is about water immersion and experience. Previously there was plenty of water, but no sound, no movement and no real access, thus the site was excavated to physically bring the visitor down to the water, to walk on the water and to feel the water.

Trees and tall plants screen paths as waterfalls fill the garden with dynamic sound and movement. Located at the heart of the tropical wetland, Window Walks allow visitors to walk on the water and access the adjacent Shade and Color Island. The Lotus Seat beckons visitors to rest and enjoy beautiful views of the entire wetland garden. Sitting on the Water’s Edge they feel as if they’re floating on water while experiencing the Lake’s tranquility up close. Etched glass portals throughout the garden illustrate fun and informative stories about wetland ecosystems.

Windows on the Floating World advances Mounts Botanical Garden’s educational initiatives regarding wetland preservation, environmental science, plant science, water quality and subtropical gardening.
           
Windows on the Floating World receives 2018 'Design Award of Honor' from Florida Chapter of the American Association of Landscape Architects.
