On July 7, the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners will officially proclaim July 2026 as Park and Recreation Month, recognizing the department's contributions to our community's health, wellness, conservation, economic vitality and community connection.

For 54 years, the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department has provided opportunities for healthy, happy living through more than 110 county-operated parks and recreational facilities. From neighborhood parks and regional destinations to beaches, nature areas and athletic complexes, the department offers spaces where residents can connect, play, learn and explore.

The department's diverse services include youth and adult sports, aquatics programs, adaptive recreation, environmental education, wellness initiatives and special events. Specialty amenities such as golf courses, campgrounds, equestrian facilities, archery, cycling, waterparks, nature centers and therapeutic recreation programs provide unique recreational experiences for residents of all ages and abilities.

The department also promotes health and wellness through its
PBC Park Rx initiative, encouraging participants to use parks and recreation as a prescription for healthy, happy living. Through guided challenges, educational resources and opportunities to explore county-operated parks, Park Rx helps connect people with the physical, mental and social benefits of spending time outdoors.

As a nationally accredited agency and 2026 National Gold Medal Award finalist, the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department continues to invest in facilities, programs and services that meet the needs of our growing community. During Park and Recreation Month, residents are encouraged to visit a county-operated park, participate in a recreation program and experience the power of parks and recreation firsthand.
