The microchip company, SaveThisLife has unexpectedly shut down and many pet owners do not know they discontinued services. The company appears to also have unlinked all microchip registrations from the universal microchip lookup tools that animal care professionals such as PBCACC use.

Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control would like to use this incident as a reminder to the community to check your pet's microchip regularly to ensure information is up to date. A microchip is the best way to ensure your pet is reunited with you in cases of lost pets or emergencies.

If you pet's microchip appears as unregistered, you can register the chip number with a registry such as HomeAgain Pet Recovery, 24Petwatch, or AKC Reunite.
