On February 18, 2026, PZB Deputy Executive Director Cindy Hoskin joined County staff in welcoming local 10th grade students to a hands-on mock Board of County Commissioners (BCC) hearing as part of the Path to College program.

Held in the Jane M. Thompson Memorial Chambers at the Palm Beach County Government Center in West Palm Beach, the experience allowed students to step into real-world roles — serving as county commissioners, staff, members of the public, and project representatives in an official hearing setting.

County staff provided guidance and support throughout the exercise, helping students navigate procedures, public testimony, and decision-making processes. The interactive format offered a valuable learning opportunity, giving participants a deeper understanding of local government operations, civic engagement, and the county's legislative and public hearing process.

This immersive event reflects the County's continued commitment to education, outreach, and inspiring the next generation of community leaders.
