Medicare Part D
Back to Consumers Page
If you are eligible for Medicare, you qualify to enroll in Medicare Part D,
the new prescription drug plan. For a person who has no drug coverage, Part D
will typically save 50% off drug costs. The price of the monthly premium is
dependent on what medications one currently takes. Even if participants do not
take many medications now, the plan acts as insurance by protecting against
potentially very high drug costs in the future.
Almost one third of all people with Medicare qualify for extra help to pay
85-100% of prescription drug costs. Their annual enrollment period is November
15 to December 31. Two Palm Beach County Extension Agents have been trained to
help educate individuals about their Medicare Part D plan selection options.
