Due to the long awaited and very exciting opening of the new Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Shooting Sports Complex, the Palm Beach County Public Shooting Program at the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Weapons Facility has ended.  The new FWC range is located at 11730 Seminole Pratt Whitney Road.  In order to operate consistent with CDC recommendations for COVID 19, reservations are required and can be made by calling (561) 512-0285 during the hours of 8am – 5pm Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.  A link to information regarding the new FWC Shooting Sports Complex is provided below.   You will find information about fees, rifle ranges, handgun ranges and more.

Who operates the range?

The Sheriff's Office operates the range with financial support from the Board of County Commissioners.

What will be the range hours during public use days?

The range will be open between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM on Saturdays and. 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM on Sundays. Shooters will be accepted until 4:00 pm on on Saturdays and 3:00 pm on Sundays.

What are the amenities available at the range?

Amenities include a parking lot, restroom facility, water fountains, vending machines, shooting benches, shade canopies, and target frames.

How can I get on the mailing list regarding activities for the range?

Contact Palm Beach County at 561-233-0255 and request to be placed on the e-mail list. You can also request to be placed on e-mail list by e-mailing your name and address to pbcshootingrange@pbcgov.org

How long will I be able to shoot?

Range time is limited to two (2) hours per shooter. Request for more time will be on a case by case basis if no shooters are waiting for shooting positions.

Are there age restrictions?

Yes. Shooters under 18 years of age must be accompanied and under constant supervision of a parent or legal guardian and must sign a Minor Child Waiver. In addition, shooters between 10 and 14 years will be authorized to handle firearms on the shooting line under the direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian will be responsible for transporting the firearm to and from the firing line. No minors under the age of 10 are allowed on the range.

​Go west on SR 80 (Southern Boulevard) 12.4 miles from 441 to Twenty Mile Bend, at the flashing yellow light make a left on CR 880. Go over the green metal bridge and make the immediate left onto Twenty Mile Bend Boat Ramp Road. Proceed 7/10 of a mile and make the first right at the Sheriff's Training Facility and follow road back to Shooting Range.  | Map |

Public Shoot Range Rules

​Range Use Requirements

  • At all times, firearm safety rules will be strictly adhered to, and any violation will result in the loss of shooting privileges.

  • All shooters and spectators on the firing line shall be required to have eye protection and ear protection.

  • No open toed shoes allowed.

  • All shooters will execute the County required liability waiver, and show a valid drivers license or Florida identification card.

  • Firearms will be limited to rifles, shotguns, and black powder long guns in calibers generally used for sporting events and hunting. No fully automatic weapons or handguns will be allowed.

  • Restricted ammunition is as follows: No steel core or armor piercing rounds; exploding or incendiary rounds; and no tracer ammunition. Range safety personnel reserve the right to inspect rounds to preserve safety and range integrity.

  • All rifles, shotguns, and black power rifles must be brought to the firing line unloaded and encased.

  • No smoking or eating is allowed on the firing line.
