After hearing from local industry, we have updated the way qualifying residential reroof applications are processed. This new process is designed to make eligible reroof permits faster and easier to obtain through the online application system.
During the application, applicants will answer a series of questions that help determine whether the permit qualifies for self-issuance or needs to be routed to plan review. This new process replaces the expedited reroof application and allows qualifying permits to be issued almost instantly. Applicants are encouraged to carefully review each question and provide accurate information to help ensure the application is processed correctly.

How can I use it?
Apply through our customer portal as you normally would, and you will enter the reroof application automatically. The answers to the questions will determine eligibility for self-issuance. If your permit does not qualify for self-issuance, then the application will simply be routed to plan review as it always has.
Which Permit is affected?
4081 – Reroof – SFD/Duplex/Attached Residential.
How do I know if it is self-issued?
Your application or permit number will appear at the top-left corner of the final page, the application number starts with “PR” while a building permit starts with “B”
Example:
•PR-2026-000000 — Application routed to plan review.
•B-2026-000000 — Permit issued.
Note: You must still pay the fees before you can begin work. An unpaid building permit will expire in 10 days.
