The Local Roads Section responsibilities vary greatly but for the most part are focused around lower volume roads.
Road Projects
Prepares and reviews design documents for roadway widening projects, intersection projects, drainage design projects and studies on local roads, alignment and right-of-way studies on local roads, bridge widening and replacement projects on the Intracoastal waterway and local roads.
MSTU - Municipal Service Taxing Unit
Is responsible for managing the MSTU Assessment Program which provides Paving & Drainage Improvements throughout Unincorporated Palm Beach County. The program is currently undergoing an update of the governing Ordinance to current standards and methodology , including a name change to Municipal Service Taxing Assessment (MSTA) program.
Railroads
Is responsible for coordinating with all railroad entities located in Palm Beach County. This includes crossing agreements for any County road through railroad right-of-way and processing maintenance for those crossings associated with County roads and facilities.
Sidewalks
Is responsible for preparing Cost and Feasibility Studies for potential sidewalks throughout the County as requested by the Traffic Division. Is responsible for the design of any sidewalks that are funded as requested by the Traffic Division. Will also provide design for the occasional multi-use pathway project.
Grant Projects
Is responsible for the preparation of grant applications for local roads projects as well as their design should the applications be approved.
Local Road Permit Review
Is responsible for reviewing all utility and right-of-way permits that are located on local roads.
