Programs and Upcoming Events
Adaptive Swim LessonsLessons are for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. Instructors are certified in Adapted Aquatics and teach the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program. Program emphasizes water safety and foundational swimming concepts. Skills are adapted for each participant’s ability.
Adaptive Swim Clinics
Adaptive swim clinics teach athletes with physical disabilities different swim styles and strokes based on their strength and range of motion. Swimming strengthens your cardiovascular system and the major muscle groups in your upper and lower body. Athletes find that swimming can be great cross training for any sport and is a great way to stay active!
Adapted Sailing
Our Adapted Sailing program is sponsored by Special Olympics Florida for adults and children age 8 and older with intellectual disabilities. Sailors learn how to sail independently or with a partner during scheduled days and times at Okeeheelee Park. Our sailboats are specifically designed to be user friendly in all conditions and with all abilities.
