Welcome to the Palm Beach County Department of Airports
The Department of Airports operates a system of four airports. Each airport plays a role in supporting the needs of the public and aviation community. With an economic impact of $4.6 billion annually, the entire airport system is financially self-sustaining and receives no ad valorem tax dollars or general monies funds. Revenues are primarily generated by user fees and rentals paid by airlines and general aviation operators, public parking, commercial leases and concessions.
Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) is a commercial service airport, serving both air carriers (airlines) and general aviation aircraft. PBI has a 24 hour control tower and a U.S. Customs & Immigration port of entry facility. The general aviation traffic at PBI has a choice of three fixed base operators.
In addition to PBI, the county operates three general aviation only airports which do not have any air carrier activity.
North Palm Beach County General Aviation Airport (F45) is the county’s newest airport, which opened in 1994. F45 is a designated reliever for PBI and serves both reciprocating engine and jet aircraft. F45 is a noise-sensitive airport. The airport currently has one fixed base operator, Signature Flight Support. The airport facilities consist of a terminal, a large storage hanger, an aircraft maintenance hangar and 176 aircraft storage hangars. There are several business located on the airport including both fixed wing and helicopter flight schools.
Palm Beach County Park Airport(LNA) is located in Lake Worth, Florida, on Lantana Road, and is 6 miles south of PBI. LNA is a reliever airport focusing on the general aviation reciprocating and turbine driven aircraft. LNA is a busy airport with a mix of both fixed-wing and helicopters. There is no air traffic control tower. There are three runways which are located in a triangle layout. The airport is supported by one fixed base operator, Stellar Aviation. The field also has several flight schools, aircraft maintenance and a propeller shop.
Palm Beach County Glades Airport (PHK) is the county’s designated recreational airport. PHK is also designated for parachute operations. PHK is located in the western portion of Palm Beach County and is located adjacent to Lake Okeechobee. As the recreational airport, Glades supports the airport system by locating the recreational/sport aeronautical operations at a less congested airport.
