Group Programs
Return to Green Cay
These topics are explored through the use of live animals, artifacts and activities. All programs include a classroom presentation followed by a boardwalk tour and last approximately 90 minutes. Programs are tailored to meet the needs of your group. Fees are *$5 per participant. All programs are by reservation only. *Effective October 1, 2025, all payments made with a credit or debit card (online or in-person) will incur a 3.0% service fee. This fee is assessed and collected by the credit card processor, not by Palm Beach County. No service fee will be assessed on payments made by check or cash. Service fees are non-refundable.
For your next group outing, come to Green Cay for one of these exciting programs! Activities promote environmental awareness, conservation, recreation and educate on health and wellness in the community.
- South Florida Animals
Participants will learn about habitats and the four things all habitats need through an up-close encounter with several live animals native to our south Florida area. Through their interactions, individuals will make observations about the animals and come to conclusions about their daily life such as where they live and what they eat.
- Wetlands
This program will educate participants about the water cycle, the importance of wetlands to both animals and humans, and the functions that a wetland provides through hands-on experiments and a guided tour of the wetlands.
- Reptiles and Amphibians
This program provides an opportunity for visitors to learn about reptiles and amphibians while viewing some of Green Cay's up-close. You will learn about why they are important to our ecosystem, their diet, life cycles, habitats, and adaptations for survival.
- Birds
Learn to identify South Florida birds using visual cues and by applying the basic steps that will lead you to a proper ID. We will discuss characteristics such as foot and beak shape, flight silhouettes, coloration, diet, and habitat preferences. Then you’ll apply your newfound knowledge during a birding walk.
- Plants & Butterflies
This program is designed to educate people about the many types of plants that can be used to attract different species of butterflies. People will learn some basic knowledge needed to have a successful butterfly garden.
- Exotic Animals
This program is designed to educate people about the effects that exotic and invasive species can have on the South Florida Environment and the importance of the native species to keep the ecosystem in equilibrium through a presentation and live animal demonstration followed by a tour to observe the interactions of these species.
