Planning a group gathering in the park?

Group ​

Riverbend can provide the following programs for specialty groups such as scout troops, camp groups, youth groups, social clubs, etc. Programs will be tailored to the participant age level. These guided programs enhance your visit to the park by offering a closer look at the environmental and historical aspects of Riverbend. Activities promote environmental and historical awareness, conservation, and recreation.

Programs must be reserved in advance. To book a program, complete a Program Reservation Request Form and email it to riverbendpark@pbc.gov or drop it off at the park office. Once we receive your request we will check for availability and send you back a confirmation via email or fax. Please note:

  • Programs are offered on Tuesday through Friday.
  • Programs will run approximately 90 minutes.
  • Payment is due the day of program. We will accept either cash or check.
  • Program runtimes are approximate depending upon age level of participants.
  • Children’s group programs include one free chaperone (staff/parent) for every 10 paying children. Additional adults must pay the program fee.

  • Group Naturalist Programs
    • ​Maximum of 60 participants
    • $5 per participant ($50 minimum charge)
    • Approximately 1.5 hours
Naturalist Program Topics
Wetland Wonders: Dipnetting Adventures (Ages 8 and up)
Learn about the different types of wetlands and how they are important to both animals and humans. Participants will also discover the underwater world by dipnetting for aquatic organisms to study and release. Please wear closed-toe shoes that can get wet/muddy.

Feathered Friends: Birding Basics 101
Discover the diverse world of birds in Florida with our Birding Basics course. Bring your good walking shoes and binoculars to go on a walk to locate and identify native bird species in the park. This class is a great way to practice using guides and learn essential bird identification skills! Binoculars are available for use at the park.

Secret Life of Plants
Dive into the wonderful world of plants, focusing on southern Florida’s native plant species including common wild flowers, trees, and shrubs. Through a guided walk and bio-facts participants will learn the different parts of the plant, skills to better identify plants in the wild, and knowledge of many native plant species we have in Florida.

Slither and Scales: Exploring Reptiles and Amphibians
Learn about the differences between reptiles and amphibians with the help of live animals, biofacts, and visuals. A guided tour of our trails is included as we search for some wild examples of reptiles and amphibians.

South Florida Animals
Explore South Florida wildlife with a presentation including live animals, biofacts, and visuals. Participants also take a guided tour on our trails through different habitats and learn about native plants and animals.

Night Hike
Embark on a captivating journey through the Florida wilderness with our Night Hike program. As dusk settles over the park, join our knowledgeable naturalists to dive into the secrets of Florida's nocturnal wildlife and ecosystems. Good walking shoes, water, a flashlight, and bug spray are recommended.

Pioneer Living History
Through a guided tour, along with interaction and observation, participants will be able to compare and contrast old and modern Florida and learn how technology has impacted both the people and the land.

Outdoor Adventure Program Topics
Canoeing 101
Join ACA certified staff to learn proper canoeing terminology, skills and safety through a unique outdoor adventure program. Participants will put their new skills to the test in a short canoeing trip through the park. Proper outdoor clothing, water shoes, drinking water, and sunscreen are recommended. Canoes, paddles, and PFD's are provided.

Fishing Fun
Learn basic fishing techniques and safety while fishing for the big one! Proper outdoor clothing, water, sunblock and sunglasses are recommended. Fishing gear is provided.

Archery 101
Join USA Archery certified staff to learn a new skill! This exciting program teaches archery safety and how to properly use the equipment before getting to practice on the range. Equipment is provided. Note: Bows may be difficult to pull for smaller children.

Open Range Archery
Join USA Archery certified staff to hone your archery skills! This program is offered to only participants who all have already attended an archery 101 course at Riverbend Park. Participants will shoot at different targets and different distances. Basic safety review will be conducted before heading to the range. Equipment is provided. Note: Bows may be difficult to pull for smaller children.
